Getting New Management

The Powell River Runners blog is getting new cheerful, running owner.  While I enjoyed building the site and starting it,  I did not have the enthusiasm or community to make this a living resource.  The site gets a surprising amount of traffic and should be a help to people wanting come to run or running in Powell River.  Good Luck.

Hello fellow runners!

The sun is coming out and the perfect running weather is finally here! Many of you are have started your season and have been or are going to events. Just a couple of thing to note that are coming up;
1. May 11th (Mother’s Day!) brings the 8th Annual Spirit Run hosted by the Bruce Denniston Bone Marrow Society. Distances include 5k, 10, 4 person 20k relay or the half marathon. There are great prizes and it is a terrific event that supports a 100% local charity. Early registrants get a t-shirt. Register at Bruce Debnniston Bone Marrow Society – 485-8488 on Marine or at Avid Fitness Center.
2. May 25th is the first run hosted by the Brooks Running Club. It will be a 5K or 10K walk or run with all of the proceeds going to the “Pass the Hat for the Cat” which is raising funds to buy a CAT scan machine for our hospital – a badly needed diagnostic tool. Runners can pre-register here at Avid.
3. June 17th is the 24th annual Twilight Shuffle 5K in Chemainus. This is a fast course with tech t-shirts for all entrants and other great prizes. Register by phone at 250-595-2378 or e-mail islandrunner@telus.net
Finally, a local runner has begun putting together a website/blog site which will function as the “location” of Powell River’s Virtual Running Club. We will keep you posted! As soon as he is confident to “release” it, we will e-mail the link to everyone.
Get running – keep running!

The Logo for the Powell River Runners

This is a picture of the dam on the second shortest river in the world… also a symbol of the pioneering spirit in Powell River. This will be available for t-shirtization at some point with a large version. I envisage the stardard t-shirt being black and white with a gray tone emblem on the front of the shirt. Let me know if you want a pdf of the big version…

Check this out for the Virtual Running Club

This is the possible running club home!!

Tired of not being able to fly the Powell River flag at endurance sports around the province and around the world?  Want to say proudly that you are from Powell River (even if the waitress at the Empresses laughs at you)?  At the same time who has  time to organize a full time running club??  To this end we are planning a self organizing running club through the wonders of modern telecommunications.
